ST. AMANT, LA (WVUE) - Friends, family and members of the law enforcement community will say their final goodbyes to a Shreveport police officer killed in the line of duty.
Officer Thomas LaValley, 29, was fatally shot on Wednesday while he answered a call about a suspicious person at a home.
The suspect, 27-year-old Grover Cannon, remains in jail charged with murder. Acting on a tip, officers arrested Cannon in Shreveport on Thursday after a massive manhunt.
Thousands lined the route Saturday as a procession carried LaValley's body from Shreveport to his final resting place in St. Amant.
Visitation for LaValley will start at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, LA. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
