NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A web site ranks the 10 "most dangerous places" in the state of Louisiana.
Bastrop ranks as the most dangerous city in Louisiana, according to a recent study from onlyinyourstate.com. The city of approximately 11,000 people has a crime rate of 255.93 per 1,000 people, according to the study.
The crime rates were taken from FBI statistics in the year 2013.
Crime rates were determined by adding up all crimes reported in a particular jurisdiction, dividing by the population of that place, and multiplying by 1,000. Towns with a population under 2,500 were taken out of this calculation.
