LPSO: Man forced way into home, raped woman

LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of raping a woman in her home.

Parnell Chambers, 33, was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with second-degree rape. Deputies say on Friday (Aug. 7), a woman reported that she had been raped by Chambers that morning. She told investigators Chambers was an acquaintance, and that he showed up at her house that morning. She reported that Chambers asked to come inside and she refused. According to the victim, Chambers forced his way inside and raped her. 

Deputies found Chambers nearby and arrested him. He also had two active warrants for contempt of court. He was initially transported to the criminal operations center in Lockport for questioning. After questioning chambers, detectives obtained an arrest warrant. 

Chambers was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He was being held in lieu of $75,000 bond and also has fines and costs of $1,574 in reference to the contempt charges.
