After numerous breakdowns on the defensive side of the ball last season, Sean Payton brought in some new blood to turn the Saints' fortunes around. Brandon Browner is getting a lot of the hype for his two Super Bowl rings, but another big addition came at the linebacker spot with Dannell Ellerbe.

The University of Georgia product has made his money at the middle linebacker spot, but he's willing to move anywhere to get on the field. After a disappointing tenure in Miami, his mentality reflects that of his new teammates. "It really didn't matter where I went, I would have had a chip on my shoulder, I have a chip on my shoulder every year but just the fact that the defense has a chip on its shoulder makes it that much sweeter and we all can go together and fight together. We all have the same goal, we want to be the top defense in the league. The defense is very hungry, ever since I got here, the first day they were talking about how they had a bad taste in their mouth about last year and they wanted to play for each other this year and get better."

Ellerbe missed 15 games last season with a hip injury that held him out of a big portion of this training camp, but he's already back running with the first string where Sean Payton has a vision for him. "There is a plan with it," Payton said. "We meet at night and look at the reps. He gets reps back in, you want to monitor how much the first day, the first week leading up to where he is not on the injury report.  A player like him would come back on a limited basis and you gradually build him up rep-wise."
