A 60 year old driver from northern Louisiana was killed early Tuesday morning after he slammed his pick-up truck into a utility police in lower Plaquemines Parish.   Sheriff Lonnie Greco has identified the driver as Rickey Fernandez of Montgomery, LA, which is located north of Alexandria. Fernandez died on the scene of the single-car collision.

The accident happened around 3:15 a.m on Highway 11 near Elizabeth Lane in Buras.  According to a preliminary investigation, Fernandez was driving a 2005 Ford pick-up truck north on Highway 11 when, for reasons under investigation, veered off the road and struck a utility pole.
