NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Before he tipped off his NBA career in New Orleans, Anthony Davis helped Team USA win a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics as a backup. Next summer, A.D. will aim for an encore performance in a leading role.

Davis is in Las Vegas for a two-day mandatory minicamp for Team USA hopefuls, who will compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil. Davis is already a two-time NBA All-Star at just 22-years old, and when he suits up with the other great American talents, he knows that his gameplan may change, but he's willing to do whatever is necessary to win another gold next year.

"When I get here, my role changes. 'We won't need you playing the four, we need you playing the five. We don't need you to score, we need you to defend.' So man, I thought I was coming here to score, a lot of guys think that so your role changes but at the end of the day, these guys love playing for each other, love playing for Coach K, love playing for USA Basketball so whether you're a scorer, or rebounder, a guy who's a fourth man like I was in London. Either way, when everyone wins, everyone gets congratulated and gets a gold medal at the end of the day."
