The New Orleans Building Corporation (NOBC) approved a lease Tuesday for MegaBus to move operations into the Union Passenger Terminal (UPT) at the intersection of Loyola and Howard Avenues.

A time frame for moving the bus stop to the UPT was not released, but city spokesman Brad Howard said Wednesday it would happen “as soon as possible.”

“Relocating MegaBus operations to UPT will improve passengers’ experience and safety and will alleviate concerns of Marigny residents inconvenienced by MegaBus’ present operations,” Howard said. “This is a win-win for both the City and MegaBus, and we look forward to the transition.”

The terms of the lease allow MegaBus to use two bus bays for one year at a cost of $70,000.
