Man says wife taught son to bypass Breathalyzer

(CNN) - A Florida man says after his wife taught their son to defeat a breathalyzer he installed in the family SUV, he's packing up the kids and leaving her.

Doug King is outraged at his wife, 35-year-old April King - so much so, that he left her in jail after a recent arrest.

Video shows King and her children, ages 2 and 4, in the parking lot of a bar and grill on Sunday afternoon. After April King moves something in the driver's seat, you can see the 4-year-old grab a breathalyzer and blow into it.

911 Caller: "I have a lady that just came in and sat down at my bar, and her kid's in the car with the A/C running. He looks like he's about 2 or 3 years old."

This is the 911 call made by the manager of the bar. He tells the dispatcher that April King has left and is driving around in the parking lot. The dispatcher asks if King is under the influence.

911 Caller: "She seemed a little under the influence, and then she chugged a beer. But I didn't know she had a kid in the car."

Police arrested April King for child neglect instead of DWI because she was not driving when they arrived.

Her husband said he installed the breathalyzer in her car because she had just gotten out of rehab.

"And my son just turned 4 years old, and the fact that he learned how to do that - I don't put the intelligence behind him one bit, but to learn to hum and blow at the same time it was a surprise," King said.

Doug King said he is taking his children back to Oklahoma, where he is from.
