2 city commissions vote to remove Confederate monuments

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The Historic District Landmarks Commission and the Human Resources commissions voted Thursday to remove four confederate monuments in New Orleans.

Under the proposal, the Jefferson Davis statue and Battle of Liberty Place monument would be relocated. The Robert E. Lee statue and PGT Beauregard statue would be removed.

The City Council will now have to formally vote on an ordinance to remove the monuments.
