Terrebonne political dispute heads to court

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - A former state representative in Terrebonne parish has filed suit against the Terrebonne parish registrar's office because he says he was told he cannot run for office as both Democrat and Republican.

Damon Baldone represented District 53 from 2001 to 2012 as a Democrat.

He now plans to run for the House seat in District 52, and Baldone says he has requested dual registration because his goal is to represent the ideals of both the Democratic and Republican parties.

A judge will hear the case on Friday, August 14th, in Houma's 32nd judicial district court.
