Wildlife agents bust Slidell man for alleged shrimping violations

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents cited a commercial fisherman from Slidell for alleged shrimping violations in Plaquemines Parish.

Agents patrolling in Black Bay on Wednesday evening, August 12th, say they observed a skimming vessel actively shrimping.

During the inspection, agents say they found approximately 23 pounds of shrimp on board the vessel.

Michael J Daigle Jr, 28, was cited for using skimmers during a closed shrimp season and seized the shrimp.

The inshore shrimp season is set to open at 6 a.m. on August 17th.

Wildlife agents say using skimmers during a closed shrimp season brings a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail.
