KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A Kenner man faces charges that he gave bullets to three juveniles who were later arrested in a shooting that wounded a 14-year-old boy. Police say the man also recorded video of the kids fighting and that his camera also captured the shooting.
Kenner police booked John McDowell, 21, with principal to aggravated battery and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Acting on a warrant, investigators searched McDowell's home in July and found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a shotgun inside. Detectives also seized his cell phone, which contained video of the April 8 incident that happened near McDowell's West Louisiana State Drive residence.
Investigators say McDowell confessed to giving .22 caliber ammunition to the three juveniles arrested in the case. The 15-year-old boy accused of shooting the victim was booked with aggravated battery, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile and other charges. A second 15-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy were booked with disturbing the peace. Kenner police also arrested the mother of one of the young suspects back in April. Lakenya Hall is accused of driving the boys to the shooting scene.
