LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

Deputies arrested a Larose man and a Galliano man accused of third-degree rape.

Taylor Fontenot, 18, and Davery Gaspard, 28, are accused of raping a teenage girl Aug. 9.

At 3:15 a.m., the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office received a report that the teen had been missing for about three hours. She was located a short time later, but detectives learned that Fontenot and Gaspard had allegedly engaged in nonconsensual sexual intercourse with the girl during the time she was missing.

Both men were brought in for questioning. During the initial interview, Gaspard gave what were later determined to be false statements about the incident. Investigators said during a follow-up interview, he admitted to his involvement in the crime, and said he had destroyed the clothes he wore during the incident. He also admitted that he bought alcohol for minors that night.

Investigators said Fontenot also admitted to his involvement in the rape.

In addition to rape, Gaspard was also booked with obstruction of justice, unlawful purchase of alcohol for persons under 21, and criminal mischief. Both were booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. Gaspard's bond was set at $53,000. Bond for Fontenot was set at $25,000.
