Person of interest named in Southlawn Blvd shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police are searching for a man they believe has information that could help them with an Algiers shooting investigation.

NOPD named 25-year-old Chase McNeal as a person of interest in the shooting that injured a 28-year-old man on Friday, Aug. 21. Police believe McNeal may have information that is critical to catching the person responsible.

The shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. in the 1500 block of Southlawn Boulevard. According to NOPD, officers responded to the call of a male shot in the area. When they arrived, officers found the 28-year-old victim, who sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to the hospital where he is currently recovering from his injuries.

Detectives learned that McNeal frequents the area where the shooting occurred and that he may have information on the incident. He is not a suspect in the shooting.

Police say McNeal might be driving a grey or silver Chevrolet Impala with dark tinted windows.
