NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - In the tropics, Tropical Storm Erika is approaching the Lesser Antilles. Forecast models and the NHC forecast take the storm toward or a little north of Puerto Rico Friday and the Turks and Caicos by Saturday. A turn east of Florida looks likely, but it's still too soon to know for certain. We'll keep an eye on the storm and bring you the latest.
An early fall front has moved through Southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi. Dew points have fallen and are likely to fall further tomorrow, giving August air a much better feel!
The drier air will allow overnight lows and morning temps to drop into the upper 50s to lower 60s on the north shore and upper 60s to low 70s south. Highs will rise into the upper 80s to near 90. It looks as though this more pleasant weather will stick around through the week and start to turn more humid over the weekend. Lots of sunshine all this week with no rain.
