2 injured in natural gas pipeline fire off Louisiana coast

MARSH ISLAND, LA (WVUE) -

A natural gas pipeline fire injures two off the coast of Vermilion Parish.

The incipient happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday 25 miles south of Marsh Island, according to the United States Coast Guard.

A dive operation vessel was working on the pipeline at the time of the rupture, according to the coast guard. Two crew members aboard the vessel were injured and escorted to Houma for treatment.

The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The fire is reported to be extinguished. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
