Covington man leads deputies on high-speed chase

COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) - St. Tammany Parish deputies arrested a Covington man who they say took them on a high-speed chase Wednesday.

Deputies say they were trying to arrest 27-year-old Marlone Brumfield when he took off in his truck at about 9:30 p.m. Deputies pursued him in a chase that eventually ended in downtown Covington.

Deputies say he crashed the vehicle outside a business just off Boston Street and tried to run away but was quickly taken into custody. Deputies say during the arrest they found narcotics.

Brumfield was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the following charges: aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce,  criminal damage to property over $500, two counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics, third-offense possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.
