NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Enjoy this beautiful weather while it lasts. The summer heat and humidity is coming back soon.
An upper trough pushing deep into the south bringing in dry air from far north will keep the humidity at bay until the end of the week. However, the humidity is coming back this weekend. By Sunday we'll be back to the usual summer muggies.
Sunny skies prevail through Saturday with an increase in clouds and perhaps a few showers by Sunday.
Erika remains a tropical storm as it approaches the extreme northeastern Caribbean Sea. Models remain torn on the strength of the storm as well as the eventual path. The National Hurricane Center keeps Erika on a generally northwestern track toward Southern Florida, where they expect the storm to turn northward as a hurricane before reaching Miami. However, there is still plenty of uncertainty around the storm.
