Man cons French Quarter hotel employees out of car

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The NOPD has issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of stealing a Dodge Charger from a French Quarter hotel parking garage.

The theft happened Sunday (Aug. 16) at about 2:45 a.m. in the 400 block of Dauphine Street. 

Police said the suspect, 21-year-old Deshawn Breaux, walked into the garage and made several attempts to persuade hotel employees that the car belonged to him. After negotiating with employees for nearly an hour, Breaux was handed the keys and he drove off in the car.

The stolen vehicle is described as a 2015 silver Dodge Charger with Tennessee license plate U1917C.

During the course of the investigation, Breaux was positively identified as the person in surveillance video.

Once caught, Breaux will be booked with auto theft.
