Suspect named in shooting that killed man, wounded toddler

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for a man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a man and the wounding of a toddler Aug. 25 in the Seventh Ward.

Delvin “Boom” Wilson,  28, is accused of killing 39-year-old Lenard Reese and injuring Reese's 2-year-old nephew 1700 block of Laharpe Street.   

Just after 5 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a man and toddler who were shot on the porch of a residence in the area. When officers arrived, they found the Reese and the young boy suffering from gunshot wounds to their bodies. EMS took the victims to the hospital, where Reese later died. The boy is recovering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the thigh.

During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Wilson as the suspect in this murder through witness participation.
