Man dead, woman in critical condition after I-10 crash

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A 23-year-old man is dead and an unidentified woman is in critical condition after an early-morning accident on I-10.

According to NOPD, the 23-year-old man and unidentified female driver were driving a Nissan Sentra westbound on I-10 near the Metairie Road exit around 1:47 a.m. when they were struck from behind by a white Cadillac Escalade driven by 29-year-old Rami Khodr.

The 23-year-old man was ejected from the car and died on the scene. Paramedics were able to transport the car's female drive to the hospital where she is currently listed in critical condition.

Khodr sustained minor injuries and his 28-year-old passenger was unharmed. Blood and alcohol tests are pending.

Officers booked Khodr into Orleans Parish Prison on charges of Negligent Homicide, Negligent Injuring and Reckless Operation of a Vehicle.
