NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The unusually drier weather for late August continues for all of the region. We'll have abundant sunshine and just a slight chance of a stray thundershower. Humidity and temperatures are slowly on the rise. The work week will bring sunshine, along with higher humidity and higher chances of rain in the afternoon as a more typical summer weather pattern sets up.
In the tropics, Erika is no more, but there is a new Tropical Storm Fred just off the coast of Africa. It poses no threat to the United States, but we will keep an eye on it.
