Man tossed in jail after neighbors say he was acting suspicious

THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

A vigilant neighbor helped police make an arrest in a burglary case in Thibodaux.  Detectives arrested  33 year old Arthur Williams Jr. after a neighbor complained that he was acting suspiciously in the 500 block of Good Street.  The incident happened shortly after midnight on Friday,  August 28th.  

When police spotted Williams nearby, he took off running.  After a brief chase, Williams surrendered to police.  Detectives say he was carrying a duffel bag that contained freshly cut copper wiring and wire cutters.  Police say those items were were recently stolen from a construction site in the 1200 block of Cardinal Drive.  

Police also believe Williams stole two packs of cigarettes from the victim's porch.

He's been charged with Simple Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Felony Theft, and Possession of Tools for a Crime.   Detectives with The Thibodaux Police Department also discovered that Williams had past convictions for theft and was on parole, which also placed him in violation.He was placed under arrest.

He's being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $61,000 bond.
