NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Months after the FOX 8 Defenders expose concerns over a makeshift bus stop in the Marigny, the bus company confirms it's moving downtown next week.
Megabus confirms to FOX 8, its pick-up and drop-off location will move to Union Passenger Terminal on Wednesday, September 9th. The low cost carrier says tickets will go on sale, online today.
For nearly a year, Megabus has operated near the corner of Rampart and Elysian Fields, but neighbors expressed concerns from added traffic and litter to no restroom facilities.
Recently the New Orleans Building Corporation and the bus line signed a lease to allow Megabus to operate where Greyhound and Amtrak do on Loyola Avenue.
Megabus will pay $70,000 a year to lease the space, and the company says it's working now to add seating to Union Passenger Terminal.
