Mike VI, LSU's live tiger mascot, will try to be coaxed into attending the first three home football games in Death Valley.

University handlers announced they will attempt to load Mike into his trailer for the games against McNeese State, Auburn and Eastern Michigan.

Mike VI did not attend any home games in the 2014 season. "Mike's behavior last year demonstrated that he was unwilling to load for the games," LSU President F. King Alexander said. "We hope he will come to the games this year, but we are prepared to revisit our decision in early October if he chooses not to load."

Alexander says if Mike refuses to leave his habitat for pre-game activities, the 440 pound tiger will be allowed to stay in his home for the fans to enjoy.

LSU says Mike VI is the only tiger that lives on a college campus. He is also one of only two live tiger mascots in the country.

The university says since Mike VI arrived at LSU in 2007, he's attended 32 of the 57 home games.
LSU says Mike VI was donated to the university by Great Cats of Indiana.

"Mike's health and wellbeing are always our top priority," Alexander said. "We are grateful to our School of Veterinary Medicine for the extraordinary care they provide our beloved mascot."
