THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - A Gibson, Louisiana man faces numerous charges after he refused to pay the fees associated with towing his vehicle.
George Flowers, 45, was initially arrested on April 15 after he was stopped for speeding, Thibodaux police said. Upon pulling over Flowers, officers said he was found to be driving under suspension and had a warrant for failing to appear in court.
He was arrested and his vehicle was towed by the business where he left his vehicle.
A Thibodaux tow yard, located in the 600 block of Jackson Street, was awarded the vehicle after Flowers did not pay fees for several months, police say. Officers say Flowers was forewarned about his vehicle being turned over if he did not pay.
On Monday, Flowers went to a tow yard in an attempt to reclaim the vehicle. Police say he tried to steal the vehicle, but it was blocked by two trucks – one of which he backed into.
Officers say Flowers also swung a pipe at one of the employees.
He was arrested and charged with attempted theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault and remaining after being forbidden. He is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $6,000 bond.
