A bicyclist was killed late Monday night after being stuck by a vehicle in Tangipahoa Parish.
Troopers have identified that bicyclist as 35-year-old Ashley Thames from Robert, Louisiana.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday on the U.S. 190 Tangipahoa River Bridge.
A Ford Escape, driven by 24-year-old Kateria Edmon, was driving westbound on the bridge when her vehicle crashed into the rear Thames' bicycle, Louisiana State Police said.
She was ejected from her bike. Thames was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said that the bicycle was not equipped with lamps or rear facing reflectors. Troopers add that she was also wearing dark clothing.
Troopers said they do not suspect Edmon was impaired at the time of the crash. Blood samples were obtained from both drivers and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
