METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - The Saints secondary finds itself hobbled with yet another injury.
Cornerback Keenan Lewis has been sidelined for at least six weeks, according to sources.
"Another blow to the #Saints secondary: CB Keenan Lewis had hip surgery yesterday, sources say. He's out 4-6 weeks," NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted out Wednesday morning.
Lewis had been in and out of practice during Saints camp. He was not on the field Tuesday.
Safety Kenny Vaccaro and cornerback Brandon Browner sat out during the game against the Houston Texans. Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe was hurt in the first preseason game against Baltimore. And former Pro Bowl safety Jarius Byrd is still recovering from last season's knee injury.
''Some of that you can't control and it's not just unique to our team. It's pretty common in the league,'' Payton said Tuesday, according to FOX Sports. ''You'd like to have your starting units intact and yet that's not always the case.''
