RIVER RIDGE, LA (WVUE) - District 9-5A is shaping up to be a fun season for prep football fans.
For the coaches in that league, like JT Curtis, Mark Songy, Mark Bonis and others, there is no way it is a stress free fall for them.
There may not be a better district from top to bottom in the state.
The old Catholic League, plus John Curtis Christian High School, means you have got a ton of past state champions playing each other every week.
For the Patriots, getting back to the title game and trying to win their first state championship since 2013 begins with how well Curtis can get his players to play up to his expectations.
"We feel good about our defense and the way that they run. Our front seven has good speed. We're developing in our secondary. Our Quarterback and running back are new guys that still need to develop. I feel good about the offensive line. It'll be a strong part for us," Curtis said. "Each year you have strengths and weaknesses and you've got to build around those and give time for others to develop to be the kind of team you hope to be at the end."
