NOPD: Man connected to 2014 deaths of St. John couple

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The NOPD Homicide Division on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for a man in the case of a St. John Parish couple whose bodies were found in the Intracoastal Waterway in March 2014.   

Amir “Blue” Ybarra, 32, faces obstruction of justice in connection with the deaths of Kenneth and Lakeitha Joseph.

Detective Ryan Vaught gathered enough information during the investigation to obtain an arrest warrant for Ybarra.

This is a multi-agency investigation: The New Orleans Police Department, St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, Louisiana State Police, Harbor Police, Fulton County Georgia Police Department, United States Attorney’s Office, Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Marshal’s Task Force and the United States Secret Service.  

Citizens with information that can help solve this crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.  You could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500 for the information leading only to the arrest, except on homicides, where Crimestoppers will pay half of the reward upon the arrest and half on the indictment of the responsible person(s).  You do not have to give your name nor testify to receive the reward but you must contact Crimestoppers directly with your information.
