iPhone stolen after convenience store customers puts it down to make purchase

ALGIERS, LA (WVUE) - One moment it's on the store counter, the next it's gone.

An iPhone was stolen after a customer at an Algiers convenience store put it down to free up their hands and make a purchase according to police. Now, police are searching for the unidentified suspect caught on camera stealing the phone.

According to NOPD, the victim was at the counter of a convenience store in the 5100 block of General DeGaulle Drive around 8:41 p.m. on Aug. 31  when they put their phone on the counter to make a purchase. An unidentified black male then grabbed the phone from the counter and left the store, getting into the passenger's side of an early model Chevy Monte Carlo and driving away from the scene.

Police released an image of the suspect captured during the incident which can be seen above.
