New Orleans pastor goes missing, police ask for public's help

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Police are searching for a 56-year-old pastor last seen at his home early Saturday morning.

Ike Mayfield was last seen at his home in the 8400 block of Aberdeen Road around Midnight on Sept. 5.

Mayfield is the pastor of the New St. Mark Baptist Church on Simon Bolivar and a retired fire captain with the Jefferson Parish Fired Department. He also served on the mayor's non-violence and gun reduction committee.

Police describe Mayfield as a black male, about 5'11" tall and weighing about 196 lbs. They say he was last seen wearing "yard type clothing."

Anyone with information on Ike Mayfield's location is asked to call NOPD at 821-2222 or the Seventh District Investigative Unit at 504-658-6070.
