$3,500 reward offered for dead jazzman's missing horn

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A $3,500 reward is being offered for the return of a silver trumpet that went missing at Trumpet Black's funeral.

Travis Hill, a 28-year-old New Orleans jazzman better known as Trumpet Black, died suddenly on May 8 in Tokyo. An infection from a minor dental procedure spread quickly and reached his heart.

Hill's silver trumpet accompanied his body back to the United States. According to the Facebook page for the musician, the trumpet went missing during the May 23 funeral.

A $3,500 is being offered for the trumpet's return.

Trumpet Black was a New Orleans trumpeter who played with the New Birth Brass Band, Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet and his own Heart Attacks band. He was the grandson of R&B great Jessie Hill and the cousin of Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews.
