NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Thirty-five people were rescued from a houseboat on Saturday night in Lake Pontchartrain.

The New Orleans Coast Guard received a mayday call around 9:30 p.m. Saturday from a houseboat that had flooding in the engine room, officials say.

The houseboat was tied to pilings on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway when a storm hit. Coast Guard officials say that they launched a 45-foot response boat to assist.

Two boat crews responded to the scene. One crew evacuated the boat with the help of a Good Samaritan, officials say. Others stayed onboard and pumped out the boat as it was towed to a local marina.

No injuries were reported.
