Two-vehicle crash in Harvey leaves one dead, four injured

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Jefferson Parish detectives are investigating a two-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 53-year-old New Orleans man and left a 32-year-old woman and her three children injured. The incident occurred Wednesday around 3:12 p.m. in the 1100 block of Destrehan Avenue in Harvey.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that the 52-year-old man was driving a car south on Destrehan Ave when he crossed over the center line and hit a black SUV, driven by the woman, head on. The man was transported to University Hospital where he later died in surgery, police say.

The woman and her three children, ages 5, 8 and 9, were all taken to Ochsner Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man's identity will be released once family members have been notified.
