BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) - Potential candidates must submit their paperwork Thursday if they hope to see their names on the ballots this October.
There are dozens of city and parish races in the metro area.
Big ones to watch this election cycle include several statewide races for governor, lieutenant governor and secretary of state.
One surprise so far, St. Bernard Parish President Dave Peralta has not yet qualified to run for re-election.
Peralta said he would re-run for office as he fights a corruption case.
He appeared at the Chalmette courthouse last week to face charges of malfeasance in office, extortion, obstruction of justice, stalking and abuse.
