NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - 3 New Orleans men have been arrested in separate incidents for crimes that victimized children, according to the Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell.
Joseph Dwight, Jr., 33, of New Orleans, was arrested after a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led investigators to Dwight's residence. When police arrived to search Dwight's home, he could be seen in the home but refused to answer the door. Once inside, agents observed Dwight's hands were bleeding and found a bloody, broken laptop in his possession.
They also located a hard drive that Dwight had attempted to destroy. Dwight told agents he destroyed the computer because he was a sex offender from Pennsylvania and was not supposed to be on a computer. A forensic preview of Dwight's other electronic devices revealed he possessed more than 50 videos and images of child sexual abuse.
Dwight was charged with 50 counts of possessing pornography involving juveniles, and one count each of failure to register as a sex offender, obstruction of justice and unlawful use or access of social media.
In an unrelated incident, Armando Ruiz Rivera, 30, of New Orleans, was arrested on 25 counts of possessing and five counts of distributing pornography involving juveniles. Rivera's arrest comes after the suspect shared numerous pornographic videos online with law enforcement officers during an undercover operation. A subsequent search of Rivera's residence revealed that he was in possession of numerous images and videos of pornography involving juveniles.
In another separate incident, Dan Clinton Pittman, Jr., 39, was arrested on 10 counts of possessing pornography involving juveniles. Investigators received a complaint that Pittman was using a social media account in an attempt to download and share child pornography. Agents found evidence of child pornography on devices seized from Pittman's residence during the execution of search warrant.
All three men were booked into the Orleans Parish Jail on Wednesday.
