N.O. East traffic stop yields pistol, pot, $9K in cash

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

A man who was stopped for a traffic violation Thursday was found with a gun, drugs and thousands in cash, according to an NOPD news release.

Brandon Pineda, 27, was stopped near I-10 East and Chef Menteur Highway at about 8 p.m. after patrol officers spotted him driving erratically in a silver Honda. During the stop, officers said they saw a loaded .357 magnum pistol, .38 grams of marijuana and cash, which turned out to be $9,000.

Pineda was booked into Central Lock-up with illegal possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics with a firearm, possession of marijuana and carless operation of a motor vehicle.
