METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - A Metairie man is behind bars for allegedly distributing child pornography, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
Our partners at Nola.com | The Times-Picayune report Erik Stapper, 48, was arrested Sept. 11 following an investigation by the state Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children task force, an arrest report said.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Detective Nicholas Vega, who is assigned to the multi-jurisdictional task force, identified Stapper as a suspect while conducting undercover work to find those who illegally posses or distribute juvenile pornography.
Vega located and downloaded a pair of videos depicting young girls being raped by adult men. Vega linked the videos to Stapper and his residence on Metairie Court, the reports said.
Investigators served a search warrant at Stapper's home Friday and took him into custody. They also seized his computers as evidence.
Stapper told investigators he never intentionally downloaded child pornography videos. He said he would deleted them whenever he found that videos contained such content, according to an arrest report.
Stapper was booked Friday with two counts of disturbing pornography involving juveniles and possession of pornography involving juveniles. He was released Saturday from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna on a $75,000 bond.
