The second week of high school football in Louisiana saw two of our top eight teams fall to 1-1 on the season, meaning openings for two squads to vault in after impressive victories.

11RummelThe Raiders remain the cream of the crop after beating down previously 8th ranked Covington, 48-0. They'll be showcased on national television this Friday against Wayne County from Mississippi, a team featuring the fourth best player in the state, DT Benito Jones, an Ole Miss commitment.
22John CurtisJ.T. Curtis and company took the show on the road in week two, beating Alabama's Shades Valley in Shreveport, 38-13. They'll be a little closer to home Friday when Parkview Baptist plays host, fresh off a 27-19 loss to Riverside.
33Brother MartinBruce Jordan-Swilling stole the show with his 344 rush yards and 7 touchdowns at St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis. The Crusaders should get a better challenge from Edna Karr in our Game of the Week at Tad Gormley.
44Destrehan30 points in the first quarter at Woodlawn-BR showed just how dangerous Stephen Robichaux's team can be. They'll need all the firepower they can get when they face the next team in our rankings....
55John EhretThe Patriots are 2-0 despite losing QB Ca'Ron Baham, a Missouri commit, early in their first game. They'll need to continue to rely on a Wildcat-type offensive attack with senior RB Juwan Leonard filling in after an MRI revealed Baham has a torn ACL and will be out for the season.
67McDonogh 35The Roneagles keep working their way up the rankings and will have another change to impress Thursday night against Higgins under the bright lights of Pan-Am Stadium.
7NRPonchatoulaThe Green Wave had been off the radar during the preseason after stud quarterback Christian Campbell moved on to Georgia Tech but the young team showed their talent beating powerhouse Acadiana, 26-0. Senior QB Jeb Kraft found junior WR Jakyle Holmes three times in an upset of the school which had ended Ponchatoula's last two seasons.
8NRHahnvilleNick Saltaformaggio's squad makes its debut in our Big 8 after a dominant victory over Patterson, 38-7. Senior quarterback Mike Neal and the three-headed rushing attack of Devonte Clark, Drew Dunn and Anthony Williams led the offense while Peyton Robert tallied 22 tackles and an interception on defense. They host Riverside, who bounced back from their week one loss to Ehret to beat Parkview Baptist, 27-19.
