BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) -

It's National Child Passenger Safety Week and Louisiana State Police want to remind parents that nationally certified technicians from across Louisiana are ready to conduct seat inspections ensuring the proper installation of your child's safety seat.

Throughout the week, child passenger safety checkup events will be held across numerous parishes providing parents and caregivers with life-saving information regarding the appropriate vehicle installation and best seat for each child's age, weight, and height.

There is never a cost for the child seat installations/inspections, however, parents should anticipate approximately 30 minutes of inspection time per seat.

Child safety seats including booster seats offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash.

Technicians from Louisiana State Police and the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force will be conducting events throughout the week leading up to National Seat Check Saturday on Sept. 19, 2015:

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians are available to inspect and to assist with the installation of child safety seats at that time.

In addition, CPS Technicians are available upon request to perform inspections at daycare centers, schools, and various community events.

There are also programs available to those individuals who may not be able to afford a child safety seat.
