Man accused of voyeurism at Galliano department store

GALLIANO, LA (WVUE) -

A 52-year-old man is accused of snapping photos of a woman undressing in the fitting room of a Lafourche Parish department store.

Aaron Merritt, 52, was arrested on Friday and booked on one count of video voyeurism.

Officers say that the arrest follows an incident is August. A woman was trying on clothes at a department store in Galliano when she noticed a man taking photos of her under the fitting room door.

The woman opened the door to get a glimpse of the suspect, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Officers say they were able to identify Merritt as a suspect following an anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers.

A warrant was obtained for Merritt’s arrest. Detectives made contact with Merritt, who turned himself over to authorities on Friday.

Merritt was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on one count of video voyeurism. He was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
