Coroner identifies man shot dead in Gentilly Friday night

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A 22-year-old man was shot dead in Gentilly late Friday night.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old James Sargon Jr, according to Orleans Parish Coroner Jeffery Rouse.

The shooting happened just before midnight Friday in the 1700 block of King Drive. Officers say that Sargon ran from the shooting scene to the 1600 block of Mirabeau Ave. where police found him unresponsive in a resident’s yard. Sargon was pronounced dead at the scene.
