2 armed robberies reported within minutes in Touro neighborhood

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Within minutes of each other, two armed robberies were reported in the Touro neighborhood Tuesday night.

The first incident was reported around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Milan Street.

A gunman approached a 28-year-old man and demanded his money, according to initial reports from the New Orleans Police Department. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene.

Just four minutes later, a similar incident was reported three blocks away.

Officers say that a gunman approached a 54-year-old woman near the intersection of Milan and Camp streets. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and there was a struggle, the New Orleans Police Department said. The victim was thrown to the ground and the suspect fled the scene.

Officers have not said if they believe the two incidents are related.
