HARVEY, LA (WVUE) - A third suspect has been arrested following a fatal double shooting in Harvey, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.
Deshawn Butler, 21, was arrested Tuesday for his involvement in an April 7 double shooting in Harvey, deputies said. Javontae Simmons, 21, and Dorian Lonzo, 19, were also arrested in the case back in April.
Deputies said the trio opened fire on two individuals around 12:45 a.m. April 7 in the 3700 block of Clover Lane. The shooting claimed the life of Stacie Johnson, 21, and injured a second man.
Following the arrest of Simmons and Lonzo in April, deputies identified a third suspect in the case as a man named "Day-Day." Day-Day was later identified as Deshawn Butler, officers said.
A warrant was issued for Butler's arrest, charging him with one count of second degree murder, one count of attempted second degree murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Deputies said Butler was currently on suspension for possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
He was placed under arrest Tuesday. Deputies said Butler initially denied having any participation in the incident, but did admit to being in the area with the others when they fired on the victims.
Butler was transported to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where he was booked accordingly.
