NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Louisiana has the worst pay gap between men and women in the United States.

Women in Louisiana make 65 cents to a man’s dollar, according to statistics from the American Association of University Women and the federal government.

Louisiana shows the largest disparity in the nation. The median average earning for men is $48,382 while women only earn $31,586.

The District of Columbia showed the least disparity between sexes where women make 90 cents to a man’s dollar, the study states.

Researchers said a wage gap was present even when they compared similar jobs with similar education and experience.
