Groups of armed robbers target N.O. East pedestrians

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police are investigating two armed robberies in New Orleans East that occurred this weekend.

The first incident occurred on Sept. 26 around 6:30 p.m.

According to NOPD, a 27-year-old man was walking in the 8700 block of Gervais Street when an unknown vehicle with three black males pulled up next to him. The three men grab the 27-year-old man and pulled him inside the car. The three men held the 27-year-old at gunpoint while they emptied his pockets and took his shoes.

They then pushed the victim out of the car and drove away.

The second incident occurred just after 3 a.m. on Sept. 27.

A 25-year-old man was walking near the corner of Chef Menteur and Papania when five black males beckoned him over. One of the men pulled a gun out and demanded the 25-year-old's property. He complied and the perpetrators fled with a gun, his driver's license, money clip, $2.00 in cash and a cell phone.
