NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

An enormous beehive in the New Orleans CBD created quite a sticky situation for crews trying get it down.

Specially trained bee keepers plan to remove the four-foot wide beehive hanging from the Maritime building in the 200 block of Carondelet Street on Tuesday.

Crews expect the entire removal to last about three hours, but that all depends on how the bees react.

"We're are dealing with the stress level of when we get up there (and) what are we going to be looking at," said bee keeper Glenn Gueho. "Are we going to be looking at happy faces or will we be look at at aggressive bees that do not want anybody in a radius of where they're at."

Bee keepers will use a 150-foot lift for the removal.

Because of the bees' attraction to light, crews will shut off a portion of street lights near the building. The extraction is expected to happen at 6:30 p.m.
