NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are searching for a man wanted for stealing lawn equipment and power tools from an apartment. The incident, which took place in the 5500 block of Pratt Street, was reported to police on September 15, 2015.

According to police, the victim rented an apartment at the location, from May of 2015 to September 5, 2015, to a man identified as 38-year-old Christopher Taranto. After the suspect left the apartment, the victim realized that $1500 worth of power tools and lawn equipment were missing.

Detectives learned that Taranto stole the property after he admitted, via text message, that he took the equipment and pawned it at a local pawn shop.

If you have any information that could help police with this case, you are asked to call NOPD Third District Detectives at 504-658-6030 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
