NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Uptown business owners say patrons are calling ahead, not just for reservations, but also to inquire about security after three establishments were robbed in the past few weeks.

"People are nervous. We've had people call and ask us what type of security do we have," Jacques-Imo's owner Jacques Leonardi said.

"We've had quite a few customers call asking what our response to the situation last night and the other two restaurants was. So people are definitely concerned and aware," Clancy's owner Brad Hollingsworth said.

The awareness is spreading after three men held up the Monkey Hill Bar on Magazine Street around 10:15 Monday night. The armed robbery comes four days after two men robbed patrons and staff at Atchafalya Restaurant on Louisiana Avenue, and four weeks after three men robbed Patios on Laurel Street.

All three incidents were caught on camera, and in every case, the men wore gloves and hoodies.

Hollingsworth is turning to off-duty patrols to keep his customers safe. He's never had to take that kind of precaution in Clancy's 32 years of business.

"It's maddening," he said. "It doesn't look good here or across the country, and you can believe this is being reported across the whole country."

"[People] are very nervous. Everywhere I go, certainly in the service industry, that's the topic of conversation. Are you worried? What are you doing? Do you have a cop? Things like that," Maple Leaf bar owner Hank Staples said.

Staples feels his bar is somewhat safe because it's on a busy section of Oak Street. But he admits security is on his mind while police have yet to make an arrest in any of the armed robberies.

"People are worried they are going to be next on the list. There is a lot of that going around," Staples said.
